yoseh Kibansky is a Dutch artist best known for his large-scale mixed-media surrealistic cityscapes, Kibanskv dabbles in phenomenology and revisits issues related to perception that have fascinated philosophers and art historians, as well as artists. He is interested in the connection between appearance and appearance, and the way that this connection enables us to understand the relationship between self and the world, exploring the relationship between things and their essence, between what we see and what images suggest. An uneasy sense of balance emerges in his recent paintings and sculptures, revealing how sadly dystopian images that at first glance seem to be happy utopias can be. As such, it reveals how utopias and dystopias can coexist in the same image.

His 2017 exhibition "Leap of Faith: Fundatie Museum in Zwole" features several of the works he exhibited at the 57th Venice Biennale, exploring the nature of hope and faith through painting and sculpture.

His landscapes do away with the concept of boundaries, by which a person belongs somewhere and ultimately represents a world nation in which different identities weigh on each other. Born in South Africa in 1984, he currently lives and works in Amsterdam.
