Sun Datang (b.1982) graduated from China Academy of Art, and currently teaching at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts.

The digital imaging art of Sun Datang has the rationality of technology, as well as the sensitivity for the extrinsic and intrinsic qualities of an object. Deconstruction, magnifying, inverting and other processing methods make part of the content invisible, and this idea of being "out of sight", which is the sense of unknowingness in his visible works, is exactly what Sun Datang seeks. Concealing the outlines of things in the form of negatives, masks, and processing them afterwards is Sun's unique way of artistic creation. The processed layer can be infinitely close to the object, yet the two are necessarily different from each other. The image has been magnified several times and has lost its characteristics as an "object", leaving only the contrast between the light and dark edges. The object itself is therefore invisible, yet the processed and magnified image retains its indelible characteristics.

In 2019, Sun Datang had his solo exhibition "Yu· Out of Sight" in Xiamen and "CONCEALED LIGHT: Sun Datang Solo Exhibition"at Quantum Gallery in Shanghai. In addition, the artist also participates in various group exhibitions including "The Den", Martin Goya Business, Hangzhou, 2017; "Soul Resonance - We Poetize", Art 23 Contemporary Art Gallery, Guangzhou, 2017; "The Private Trace", Van Art Space, Hangzhou, 2017; "The Unusual West Lake", China Academy of Art Museums, Hangzhou, 2016, etc.
